Ed Helms with David Chalian

Ed Helms with David Chalian

May 01, 2025. 7:00 p.m.

History contains a plethora of major screwups—otherwise known as SNAFUs. Coined during World War I, SNAFU stands for Situation Normal: All F*cked Up. In other words, “things are pretty screwed up, but aren’t they always?”

Building on “SNAFU”—the award-winning podcast about history’s greatest screw-ups hosted by Ed Helms—the actor, comedian, producer, and writer takes you on a wild ride through time that covers the hilarious, head-scratching, and occasionally inspiring blunders that have shaped our world in SNAFU: The Definitive Guide to History’s Greatest Screwups.

Spanning the 1950’s to the 2000’s, Helms dives into each decade’s finest faceplants and craziest SNAFUs—from planting nukes on the moon to training felines as CIA spies to weaponizing the weather. Unpacking the decision-making and aftermath of America’s biggest mishaps, the stories offer fresh insights that just might prevent history from repeating itself again and again.

Helms was a correspondent on “The Daily Show,” played Andy Bernard on “The Office,” and Stu Price in The Hangover film trilogy.

Helms will be in conversation with David Chalian, the Senior Vice President, Washington Bureau Chief, and Political Director for CNN.

All books will be pre-signed by the author. A limited number of tickets include access to a post-event signing for those who would like their name added to their book.
