Her Brush, Her Story: A Special Art Tour at the National Gallery

Celebrating Artists, Muses, and Advocates: Honoring Women in Art for Women's History Month

May 10, 2025. 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.

Can you name ten women artists? If not, you're not alone—but this tour will change that.

Women have long played a vital role in the creation, patronage, and preservation of art, yet their contributions have often been overlooked. This 2-hour tour of the National Gallery of Art uncovers the fascinating stories of women artists, the evolving portrayal of women in art, and the trailblazers who fought to ensure their place in museum collections.

From pioneering painters who defied societal norms to collectors, scholars, and advocates who championed the inclusion of women artists, this tour presents a new lens through which to view the museum’s collection. Discover the works of remarkable but lesser-known women artists, examine how women have been represented, idealized, and challenged throughout art history, and learn about figures who pushed institutions to recognize women’s artistic achievements.

Everyone is welcome to join this engaging and thought-provoking journey through the gallery—whether you're an art enthusiast, a history lover, or simply curious about the untold stories behind the masterpieces.

We will be offering this tour as a Small Group Tour, limited to 10 people, on select dates. The tour will take place on Saturday, May 10th at 10am.
If this date fills up, we will have a waitlist or may open an additional date.

You can also book this tour as a Private Tour. Contact us!
